Jose Aldo defeats Marlon "Chito" Vera in UFC Vegas 17 co-main event
By unanimous decision, Brazilian Jose Aldo defeated Marlon "Chito" Vera on Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 17, the last one of 2020. The experience of the Manaus-born fighter prevailed in the octagon against a resilient Chito.
Chito started the fight by analyzing his opponent's movements and, after several seconds, they began to exchange blows. After this, Chito cornered his opponent with a lock on the octagon fence and landed several knee strikes on Aldo's strong legs to destabilize him, but he didn't achieve his goal.

In the second round, the best punches were landed by the 34-year-old Brazilian. Two accurate punches to Chito's face and one to his abdomen brought him closer to victory. The Chone-born fighter couldn't land a successful blow on Aldo, who in the final round used all his experience and with a leg lock, destabilized the Ecuadorian.

He couldn't escape, despite the constant punches he landed on his opponent's face, from the lock that was applied to him. After the bell rang and without much preamble, the judges awarded the victory to Scarface.
At the moment both fighters shook hands, Aldo said to Vera, "You were a very tough opponent, you should come train with us." With smiles, the Ecuadorian fighter thanked him and wished him luck. (D)
