Time passes, the big prizes happen and the evolution of McLaren Honda does not end up being desired and desirable. The deficiencies of their car are so many that at this point in the year they could even be detrimental to the project of the next, as now recognized by the head of the Woking team, Eric Boullier, in statements collected by 'Autosport': "I'm not sure if all this affects us much yet, but soon, very soon, it will."
The sports director of the team insists that everything possible is being done to evolve the MP4/30, but without stopping admitting that so many problems are a serious inconvenience: "We are losing a lot of time with our tests, we did it during the preseason but also in the races. Every lap we lose increases the deficit we suffer."
In that sense, Boullier acknowledges that perhaps they should modify some of their basic approaches: "We may need to change our approach, we should spend more time working on reliability than performance. There are many new things to incorporate into the car but we will do it at the right time."
