David de Gea's Future with Madrid
The future of David de Gea is with Madrid and sooner or later the move will materialize. The goalkeeper himself is anxious for it to happen as soon as possible. He’s keen that the move happens before July 6 which is the date that the United squad are set to report to Carrington for the start of the 2015-16 pre-season. Eleven days later Manchester United are scheduled to play Mexican side Club América in Seattle.
Terms of the Move
Despite the terms of the move being resolved some time ago with Madrid, all that is needed is definitive approval from both clubs to close the deal. United are looking for 25 million and another 5 based on additional objectives.
Rafa Benitez's Urgency
Madrid are now in a hurry to finalize the move as new coach, Rafa Benitez has stated that he would like to have De Gea in his ranks when the squad return to Valdebebas for pre-season training on July 10.
Manchester United's Upper Hand
It’s United though, who have the upper hand in the negotiation and have seen the conflict that Casillas’ proposed exit is causing along with the potentially long-term injury to Keylor Navas. The directors at Old Trafford are holding out and speculation has arisen that De Gea may even spend another year at the English club and then move as a free-agent upon his contract expiring in 2016.
Possible Replacements
Despite this speculation, Manchester United are being realistic and have started to look for a goalkeeping replacement. The current Tottenham stopper, Hugo Lloris is apparently top of their list and French sports daily, L’Equipe are reporting that the 'Red Devils' have already made an offer for the French goalkeeper.
They also report that despite renewing his contract last year with Spurs through to 2019, Lloris has a pact with club chairman, Daniel Levy that if a major offer topping 25 million euros materializes, then the London club wouldn’t stand in the way of the Frenchman exiting White Hart Lane.
Alternative Deal
The other alternative that United are considering is a deal involving Sergio Ramos. United are reported admirers of the Spanish defender and see his acquisition as another step in recovering their global prestige. The proposed deal would see United pay 30 million for Ramos and would see De Gea move to Madrid as part of the deal. Rene Ramos, Sergio’s brother and his agent has already held conversations with United sporting representatives in London in April of this year.
De Gea's Impatience
Meanwhile, De Gea is waiting impatiently for his future to be resolved. He has stated that he will not put in a transfer request and is hoping that both sides reach an imminent agreement.
