Joan Laporta, candidate for the presidency of Barcelona, has expressed his "eternal gratitude" to Pep Guardiola, who today admitted his "great affection" for the former Barça president, who trusted him by entrusting him with the direction of the first team.

Through a message on Twitter, Laporta has shown his "eternal gratitude" to Guardiola. "He made our decision good. He made this wonderful club, which is Barça, even greater," the former president wrote.

Guardiola, at an event in Manresa, had assured that all the candidates for the presidency of the club are "very good," but admitted that he feels "a great personal affection" for Laporta.

"He stood up for us in the most difficult moments and I will always be grateful to him for that," said the Bayern Munich coach. Interestingly, Guardiola will not be able to vote in the elections because that day (July 18) he will be in China, as he has revealed.
