Real Madrid will play a friendly match against Valerenga on August 9 at 15.00 in the Ullevaal Stadium, the Norwegian side has confirmed. The match will be staged just four days after Real Madrid's participation in the Audi Cup comes to an end. That tournament is to be played on August 4 and 5 in Munich, with Spurs, Bayern and Milan also participating.
Meanwhile, there has been no movement on whether or not the Bernabéu will host the Trofeo Bernabéu this season. Last season the traditional one-off match was eschewed for other engagements and it appears increasingly unlikely that it will go ahead this summer, despite being a fixture on the pre-season calendar for 35 years. Real blamed a lack of suitable dates for the omission last season but managed to squeeze n a friendly in Warsaw between the Spanish and European Supercups, and another in Dubai on December 30.
The weekend of August 8 and 9 was the last free slot before the league starts a week later, but the club has decided to send Rafa Benítez and his players to Norway for the Valerenga fixture.
