Alberto Contador inspects the stages of the next Tour de France
Alberto Contador took advantage of the proximity of Gaillac (the town where the Route du Sud ended on Sunday) to the Pyrenees to once again inspect the stages that will take place there in the upcoming Tour de France (starting on July 4th). The Pyrenean triptych will have three mountaintop finishes: Pierre Saint Martin, Cauterets, and Plateau de Beille. Before competing in and winning the Route du Sud, he had already seen Cauterets. He is also familiar with Plateau de Beille, having won there in the 2007 Tour.
Final preparations in Lugano
The rider from Madrid will complete his preparations at his home in Lugano before traveling to Utrecht on July 1st: "Basically, I will focus on recovering from the efforts. The four days of competition in France were very good for getting speed back in my legs, and they were quite demanding. Now, what needs to be done is to play with rest and a bit of lighter training. The work has already been done, it matters that the body assimilates it." Contador refers to the three weeks of the Giro d'Italia and the altitude training he carried out in Livigno, in the Alps, following the Italian race: "I need to reach serious form in the Tour."
