Usain Bolt wins with a time of 20.29 in New York, but does not convince.

The Lightning narrowly defeated Zharnel Hughes in a 200m race with a headwind (-2.8). Rudisha shone in the 800m with a time of 1:43.58.

Usain Bolt didn't go below 20 seconds in New York, seventh Diamond League meeting. The wind (-2.8) had part of the blame, but the Lightning Bolt also didn't look good, stopping the clock at 20.29 and pushing himself to the limit to overcome the unknown Zharnel Hughes (20.32), from the exotic island of Anguilla, who was on par with him for much of the final straight. Bolt appeared at Icahn Stadium heavier than usual, and his usual supersonic take-off was much more diesel this time. Ultimately, he is not yet at his peak.

"I'm not happy with my time today, I don't really know what happened. I gave it my all. But the training is going well and there are still 12 weeks left until Beijing," he said. That's the consolation for Usain, 28 years old, who in 2015 has not gone below 20 seconds in the 200m (20.13), nor below 10 in the 100m (10.12 in Rio de Janeiro). Meanwhile, some of his rivals for the World Championships have already been flying in 2015. That's the case of Justin Gatlin, who has run 9.74 in the 100m and 19.68 in the 200m, or Asafa Powell (9.84 in the 100m). Tyson Gay has also run 9.88 this season, but in New York he also didn't transmit good vibes. He narrowly beat Carter (by the way, different ones from before) with a disappointing 10.12, although the wind (-1.7) is also an excuse.

In New York, David Rudisha once again shined with strength. The Kenyan dominated an 800m from start to finish and stopped the clock at 1:43.58, a serious time that was very close to the best of the year (1:43.56 by Aman). In the triple jump, Pedro Pablo Pichardo made two modest jumps for him (17.54 and 17.56) and left the competition. However, he won. And the Spaniard Toni Abadía ran the 5,000m, which soon turned into a very slow race, and finished with a time of 13:44.91, far from the World Championship standard (13:23). The American Ben True (13:29.48) won the race.
