Fernando Alonso, who retired from the Austrian Grand Prix after colliding with Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari, explained that "everything is fine", that the Finnish driver's car was "sliding" since the second turn, that he eventually "lost control", and that both cars ended up "against the wall". "Everything is fine, I went to the medical center because the car's alarm went off, I think it showed 34 G, but everything is fine," Alonso explained, in what is his fourth consecutive retirement.

"I had a good start, I think I was in thirteenth or fourteenth place. Kimi was using hard tires and already slid in turn 2. He kept sliding, going from right to left, from right to left; and in fourth or fifth gear he went to the left and collided with me," explained the two-time world champion, whose teammate Jenson Button also retired on Sunday in Austria. "It has been a bad weekend in terms of information, because we already knew it was going to be bad in terms of the results, so the tests this week will be crucial," Alonso explained after his accident in Spielberg.
