The Dutchman Tom Dumoulin, from the team Giant Alpecin, is the first leader of the Tour of Switzerland by setting the best time in the 5.4-kilometer prologue, which took place on the streets of the city of Risch Rotkreuz.
Dumoulin, champion of his country in the time trial category, completed the first kilometers of the Swiss race in five minutes and 41 seconds, beating by two seconds one of the favorites and specialist in that cycling discipline, Swiss Fabian Cancellara (Trek), winner in the 2009 edition, and by four seconds Austrian Matthias Brändle (IAM).
The victory of the Dutch champion is no surprise, in recent seasons he has achieved good times against the top specialists, as shown by his third place in last year's world championships and his victory in the Tour of the Basque Country this season.
Tomorrow, Sunday, the first stage will be held, covering 161 kilometers, and once again starting and finishing in the city of Risch Rotkreuz.
