The 2019 Pan American Games being held in Lima have received criticism from a Chilean media outlet, who questioned the logistics of athlete transportation based on a particular incident that affected Chilean tennis player Daniela Seguel, who described it as "not serious". Following the publication of the article by the southern newspaper, El Mercurio, the Lima 2019 organization wasted no time and issued a statement on Thursday, August 1st.

The statement emphasized that despite considering the traffic problems in large cities like Lima, "over 4,000 trips per day have been made with more than 1,200 vehicles." Furthermore, "athlete and official transfers have been successful, and as evidence, all competitions have been held on time," the publication reads.

The Chilean media article emphasized that despite efforts to separate lanes on the main roads and highways where the buses carrying the athletes travel, these lanes were invaded by private vehicles. The organization called on the "public to continue respecting the segregated lane, which is key for the athletes to arrive punctually and without complications to their competitions."

"So far, we are very satisfied with how the largest multi-sport event in the history of Peru has been developed. We have noticed a great reception from Peruvian and foreign audiences towards the Pan American Games, with over half a million tickets sold to date," concluded the Lima 2019 statement.

The Pan American Games, an event of this level and magnitude, are being held for the first time in a city like Lima, which is overcrowded but has managed to organize itself so that, during its nine days of competition, there have been no complications that undermine all the joint effort made to carry out the event in the best possible way.
