The Peruvian delegation of luta livre won seven gold medals at the World Championship, which took place last Sunday in the city of Manaus, Brazil. In addition, our representatives won two silver medals and one bronze medal.
In total, the luta livre delegation was composed of 17 Peruvians, who competed in different categories. Gustavo Reategui was crowned champion in the black belt category, while Alexandre do Santos did the same in the brown belt category.
Furthermore, Daniel Hayato Roca and Andy Ríos won in the purple belt category, Diego Manrique took the gold in the blue belt category, Adrian Gutiérrez in the white belt category, and Francesco Canayo in the children's category. Finally, the delegation confirmed their participation for the 2020 World Championship.
It should be noted that on August 18th, the Peruvian Association of Luta Livre celebrates its 10th anniversary and its representative in Peru is Iván Iberico. This martial art is practiced by 80% of the national MMA fighters.
