Real Madrid's Jaycee Carroll expects Barcelona to stick to their game plan
American shooting guard Jaycee Carroll of Real Madrid expressed his surprise if "Barcelona did something different" in the second game of the final series for the championship. "I think both teams have their own style of play and now, in the end, it would surprise me if Barcelona did something different", said Carroll.
The shooting guard also pointed to defense as the key to the first victory.
"I am very satisfied with the work we did. It was a good basketball game and in the end we knew how to hold on and win. The victory is very important, but there are still games ahead and one bad day, or two bad days, can ruin everything. Defense and rebounding are key for us, because points always appear," Carroll highlighted.
About Hezonja, Carroll commented that "he had a great performance and made some big shots. He has that talent, but Rudy (Fernández) defended him very well in the last few minutes."
With less than forty-eight hours between the first two games, there isn't much both teams can do.
"Indeed, only talk about some specific situations of the game and rest and recover as much as possible," he said.
Getting the 2-0 lead is "essential" for the American player. "We have worked for ten months to have the home court advantage and now we don't want to lose that. That's why we want to win the second game this Sunday," Carroll emphasized.
The shooting guard couldn't score from three points, but made three important shots.
"I was looking for a three-point shot, but Barcelona's defense prevented it, so I looked for other options and the penetrations worked well and paid off. The goal is to try to help the team in any way possible," Jaycee Carroll concluded.
Real Madrid's Jonas Maciulis emphasizes the importance of concentration
Lithuanian small forward Jonas Maciulis of Real Madrid highlighted "the concentration of everyone" as the "most important" aspect in order to repeat the victory against Barcelona in the second game of the final series for the championship.
"I don't know if Barcelona will try to make changes in their defense and offense for the second game, but the most important thing for us will be to be equally concentrated to have a chance of winning," Maciulis said.
The Lithuanian player explained that the team's "feeling" is very good.
"There has been a great atmosphere in the team throughout the season and that shows, and having won all the titles we have aimed for only improves that feeling. We must continue like this to try to win the league," he commented.
The good performance of Mario Hezonja was another topic that was addressed.
"He is a great player and it's very difficult to stop him. He had a great game, but he is not the only player who can score in Barcelona. Defending him is important, but it's not a matter of just one player, it's a team issue," Jonas Maciulis concluded.
