Ironman 70.3: An epic triathlon competition in Peru
For the second consecutive year, Peru hosted the Ironman 70.3, one of the most important triathlon competitions in the world, which brought together the best athletes from all countries. Cyril Viennot (Men) and Sarah Piampiano (Women) were the great winners of the competition after prevailing in the PRO category.
The competition took place in the Costa Verde beach in Lima, where the race began at Agua Dulce Beach in Chorrillos, with a 1.9-kilometer swim, followed by a 90-kilometer cycling route, and finally a 21.1-kilometer run. This was an extremely demanding test in which the best competitors from around the world came to overcome this Peruvian challenge.
In the PRO Men's category, the Frenchman Cyril Viennot (3h47m19s) took the glory of this edition, followed by Andy Potts (30 seconds behind) who won the competition last year, while Mario De Elías finished in third place. In the PRO Women's category, the American Sarah Piampiano (4h15m8s) won the top division, followed by Kelsey Withrow and Romina Palacio.
