Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov fight cancelled
It seems that the fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov is destined to not take place. The UFC announced on Sunday that 'El Cucuy' suffered an injury and will not be able to fight on April 7, for the lightweight title.
The interim champion will not be able to unify it at UFC 223 and will give up his place. Max Holloway, the current featherweight champion, will be his replacement in the New York event.
This is the fourth time that the confrontation between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov has been cancelled. Each one has retired twice.
If he wins next Saturday, Max Holloway will be the second fighter to hold two titles at the same time in the UFC. The first was Conor McGregor, in the same weight divisions.
