On February, SmackDown Live debuted a Top Ten list showcasing the Superstars who were performing the best. At some point we pointed out some inconsistencies in this ranking, and we were not really sure what it was created for or if it had any real purpose.
This is how the weekly SmackDown Top Ten ended up
In recent weeks, we haven't talked about it because it has really lost the little relevance it had. And it seems that soon there will be no more list. That's what Dave Meltzer commented in a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer newsletter. He also indicates that the company considered using it to start a rivalry.
"The belief is that the silly SmackDown Top Ten is over. They did it for one week, and they tried to start a silly rivalry between Orton and Roode with the idea that Roode was ranked higher than Orton."
And the truth is that this list was not necessary for the story around the United States Championship to begin. It could be thought that the company did not know what to do with this ranking once it was created, so it will be eliminated. It probably won't appear again on a blue brand program.
As for the fight for the aforementioned title, it was confirmed in the recent blue show that it will be put on the line in a fatal-four-way match at WrestleMania.
There is a reason why Rusev earned a spot on WrestleMania
