Good news in Japan

Not everything was bad news in Japan. Despite the problem he had with the scale during the weighing ceremony, Luis Nery from Tijuana managed to rescue a victory by knocking out the local Shinsuke Yamanaka for the second time.

Early Thursday morning, the now former Mexican champion stepped into the ring to end the fight in two rounds, after sending the veteran Oriental to the canvas on five occasions, four of them official.

During the weighing ceremony, 'El Pantera' Nery failed to meet the agreed weight, exceeding the limit by 2.5 kilos, leaving the bantamweight championship of the World Boxing Council vacant.

"Thank God everything went well. Things turned out perfectly. We prepared for this. We trained and ran very hard, and now we continue training to be given a chance for a world title," declared the Mexican, who couldn't defend the title he won last August. Nery left his professional record at 26-0 with 20 knockouts.
