The Liverpool eyes Asier Illarramendi
Liverpool has set its sights on Asier Illarramendi, according to various English media. The red team will lose their idol Steven Gerrard next year and the Basque midfielder could be a good replacement.
The Liverpool environment sees certain similarities between Illarramendi and Xabi Alonso, one of Anfield's idols. Real Madrid would be willing to negotiate, but only if they recoup part of the 38 million euros. A figure around 20 million would be well received in the noble floor of the Bernabéu.
Illarramendi has never adapted to Real Madrid since he arrived in the summer of 2013. This season, he only played eleven games as a starter in the league with Carlo Ancelotti on the bench.
