Victory at UFC 220
After his victory tonight at UFC 220, Peruvian fighter Enrique Barzola stated that he is willing to face Arnold Allen - whom he was originally supposed to fight tonight - or any opponent chosen by the organization.
"I would like to fight Arnold, against top [10] fighters, or whoever they put in front of me. I am willing to fight anyone. They know my work: they give me an opponent and I accept it," said the 'Fuerte' at a press conference after his victory over Matt Bessette.
Englishman Allen (12–1) had visa problems days before the Boston event, which prevented him from travelling to fight against the Peruvian athlete. Therefore, the UFC placed American Bessette (22–8) in his place.
Asked about the possibility of facing Ricardo Lamas, ranked sixth in the featherweight ranking, Enrique Barzola replied: "It's not that I want to fight him, I like how he fights, I think it would be a challenge for me. Lamas is an admirable person, an excellent person [...]. It would be an honor to fight him."
On the other hand, Enrique Barzola explained that he decided to stand up again to punish his opponent every time the fight went to the ground. "I knew he was working on ankle locks and I had to be prepared," he said.
At 28 years old, Barzola secured his third consecutive victory in UFC. In his professional MMA career, he has a record of 14 wins and three losses.
