Intense Rain Affects O'Higgins vs Universidad de Chile Game
The intense rainfall in the central zone is putting in doubt the realization of the match between O'Higgins and Universidad de Chile in Rancagua this Saturday. The O'Higgins team even had difficulties training normally on Thursday morning due to the heavy rain, as captain Braulio Leal stated.
"We have not received any information regarding a possible suspension of the match due to the rain. It has rained a lot here. We even had problems training despite having a synthetic field at Monasterio Celeste. We do not have information on how the field at El Teniente is," explained Leal to AS Chile.
"We will concentrate as usual. No one has informed us anything and there has been no news from the Intendencia. The last time we played against Universidad de Chile, there was a terrible storm and the field was flawless. I believe they are waiting until closer to the match to make a decision," he added.
Therefore, Leal revealed at what moment they find themselves in the game against the blues, scheduled at 3:30 PM.
"We are in good form for the match because we are coming off a victory. It had been difficult for us to win in the Copa Chile, and the last match against Curicó left us with a good impression. We won and played quite well at times: we were able to score several goals and also generated a lot of plays. We are satisfied and that's how we will face the upcoming match," said the midfielder of the Rancagua team, who surprisingly lost their Apertura debut against La Calera in Quillota.
"We have struggled at the beginning and it's a bit of everything. We haven't started well and have conceded incredible goals. Against Rangers, we lost both matches in the last minutes. There have been some issues that have affected our performance. It takes away your confidence and you can't win," he expressed.
"I imagine that the fans must be worried. When the team doesn't win, obviously there is disappointment and concern. We feel the same. We know we have a competitive team and we will try to be consistent and win matches, which is what we aspire to," he added.
Looking ahead to the match against Universidad de Chile, the captain highlighted the enormous value of the rival they will face, with whom they already faced in the Copa Chile, resulting in a loss and a draw.
"We know how Universidad de Chile plays, they have great players of high caliber. It is a very competitive team. The coach has many options to choose from and it will be difficult for him to select the ideal lineup. It is a team that plays well and has been doing well in terms of results because they have already qualified in the Copa Chile. Perhaps they didn't start the league very well, but they are a dangerous team with good players. It is a big team and we know it will be difficult," concluded Leal to AS Chile.
