The giant panda, also known as panda bear or simply panda, is a bear native to south central China. It is characterised by its distinctive black and white coat, and its diet primarily consists of bamboo.

The giant panda is considered a national treasure in China and is recognized as the symbol for wildlife conservation. Due to habitat loss and low birth rates, the giant panda is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
