It’s Jackson Martínez time. The star signing for the Atlético 2015-16 season is yet to make his debut for Simeone’s side with the club deciding against him making the recent trip to China and Japan. After working on a specific pre-season plan, the moment has arrived for the Colombian striker to make his debut in the famous red and white stripes. Simeone plans to give the forward playing time in Saturday’s friendly against Real Sociedad.
El Cholo is anxious to test his new signing and see how he links up with other players in the team. The Colombian will also participate in the following week’s Trofeo Carranza tournament in Cádiz on August 14 and 15. The plan for him is to play in both games in Cádiz so he’s ready for the following week’s La Liga opener when Atleti face Las Palmas. Simeone has stated that Martinez is a ‘different’ type of forward to the others in his squad.
