In Rodri's Words: "I Wanted to Come Back Home"
When you're not happy with a place, the logical thing to do is to think about going back home. That's what Rodri conveyed in his presentation: "The negotiation has been tough, but I was clear that I wanted to return to Spain and I thought that the Second Division was the best option"; The forward didn't deny that "as players, we want to play in La Liga, but the words of my friends in Valladolid convinced me 100%. I want to play many matches and feel like a football player again, and I believe that this is the best team to achieve that, it's the best option for this year."
During his time in Germany, the Sorian didn't perform too well: "It's another country with different customs and another way of seeing football. We were three Spanish players in Munich 1860 and it was difficult for us to adapt there. The experience wasn't good, but now I'm coming back home, leaving the past behind, and this year we need to focus on Valladolid's objective."
Speaking of the past, it was inevitable to ask him about that famous goal he scored against Valladolid with his hand, and Rodri came out victorious in his response: "That's the past of football; it was a forward's reflex action and we need to interpret it as a positive thing. I will now do that forward's work for Valladolid."
As for his physical condition after being away from the German team for these days, Rodri assured that he is fine: "My preseason started on July 22, so I have been working for a while now, and although I lack match rhythm, I don't lack training." He is clear about his goals: "Personally, to play as much as I can and as much as they let me, and to score as many goals as possible."
