Arian Foster's injury will have consequences beyond the damage it causes to the Texans' offense.
Numerous RB names, without a team, are starting to be heard to fill the position left by Foster.
The free agent that had been rumored the most and that everything indicated would be the new occupant of the Texans' backfield, was Pierre Thomas. The former Saints player was without a team, after New Orleans had fully trusted Mark Ingram.
Thomas had attended Houston's training camp with the intention of trying out and seeing what options the team gave him. Everything seemed to be going well, a player who knows the league, who has had good numbers at times, and a club in need of a reference in the backfield.
However, it was the player's agent who declared the negotiations over, stating that the player had a good visit and a great day of work, but unfortunately they considered it unfeasible to sign a contract under the terms offered by the Texans. As Ed Werder, a reporter for ESPN, has made known.
In this way, the position remains vacant and, although the club has immediately come out to say that they trust Chris Polk and Alfred Blue, surely more names will be put forward as candidates to replace Arian Foster.
Names like Ray Rice, Ahmad Bradshaw, Steven Jackson, or BenJarvus Jeremy Green-Ellis are already being mentioned as possibilities. We will see how things develop and if the Texans finally have a new member in the backfield.
