Argentina's midfielder Federico Carrizo close to joining Cruz Azul

It seems that Argentine midfielder Federico Carrizo will become the fifth foreign player of Cruz Azul for the Apertura 2015 of the Liga MX, as confirmed by a source close to the player to As Mexico.

Talks between Cruz Azul and Carrizo are already advanced and he will arrive in Mexico in the following hours. Only a change in the player's economic demands could stop the negotiation.

"Regardless of whether it's good or bad, Carrizo will end up going to Cruz Azul on loan, and then an option to buy would be generated. Everything is on track, they were finalizing the contract details, and once that is closed, the player will go to Mexico," said the source, who assured that Carrizo no longer has a place in Boca Juniors as he lost the trust of coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena, especially with the arrival of Carlos Tévez.

If the signing is completed, La Máquina would be signing a player with similar characteristics to Jürgen Damm, as Carrizo is considered one of the most explosive players with long spaces.

"He usually plays as a left winger but he can adapt to play as a left midfielder, he is very fast, he has a similar style to Jürgen Damm, maybe not as fast, but he is one of those explosive players that if you give him some distance, it's impossible to beat him in speed," added the source.

Not long ago, Juan Román Riquelme described the possible reinforcement for Cruz Azul like this: "Carrizo is the best player and I think he will bring a lot of joy to the club."
