Note
Since his debut in 2003, Novak Djokovic has not had such an irregular year as 2017. Constant injuries made him only play ten tournaments and win only two, both of 250 points, which led him to finish the year in the 12th position of the ATP.
When he was preparing to face the next calendar, his body played him a bad trick again. 'Nole' was going to play an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi to get back into rhythm, but he decided not to do it due to an elbow discomfort and his participation in the Australian Open is in danger.
"Unfortunately, in the last couple of days the pain in the elbow has returned, after some tests the doctors have advised me not to play and to continue with the therapies. I was enjoying the preparations, but I have to accept the advice," said Djokovic.
The former world number one planned to face the Spanish Roberto Bautista, but he was replaced by Andy Murray, who also returned from injuries that took him away from the top of the ATP. The substitute for Rafael Nadal won 6-2 against a British player who has not yet reached his best form.
It should be noted that Djokovic's last participation in the current season was in July during Wimbledon. 'Nole' only managed to advance to the quarterfinals, where he lost to Tomas Berdych.
