Carlos Gimeno
finished one position away from achieving his goal in these Kazan World Championships.
In his first international competition, the Canary Islands athlete
finished in thirteenth place after four jumps made between Monday and today Wednesday,
with a score of 391.65, just 25 points away from the top ten. Gimeno was penalized on his first jump,
as he made an error on the entry and received the lowest score of all participants.
In the fourth round, held this Wednesday on the Kazanka River, the diver obtained the seventh best score (96.90),
which helped him climb one spot in the overall standings.
The final victory went to British diver
Gary Hunt (629.30),
the unquestionable dominator of the high diving discipline.
Mexican diver Bernal Paredes (596.45) took home the silver medal,
and Russian diver Altem Silchenko (593.95) won the bronze medal,
receiving an ovation from the packed crowd.
Gimeno was unable to perform the fifth jump because only the top 12 qualified for the grand final,
where there were no changes in the overall standings.
After this experience, Gimeno will continue working and specializing in a sport in which he has only been competing and training for a year.
