Javier Hernández is back with Manchester United. After a loan season with Real Madrid, the Mexican will try to earn a spot in the starting lineup of coach Louis Van Gaal, a situation supported by Rio Ferdinand, who doesn't understand why Chicharito is not a regular in the Dutchman's scheme.
"That Chicharito is not a regular in the team confuses me," were the words of the former United defender, who considers the Mexican attacker the best in the world when the ball is filtered.
"They have Chicharito and he is a fantastic player. The fact that he is not a regular in the team confuses me. I think in terms of movement, when the ball is long, he has the best movement in the world, but he has not yet gained the coach's confidence to say 'you are my number 9, you are going to score 25 goals this year, you are going to play in all the games'. Until he gets it, he won't know what he is capable of," Ferdinand explained in an interview with The Guardian, where he also talked about Wayne Rooney, whom he expects to have a good goal-scoring season.
"The pressure is immense for Rooney. He has a very important season ahead of him. He will have to score between 20 and 25 goals this season with United to win the league and be successful. The United number 9 has to score 25 goals in a season.
Ferdinand, Chicharito and Rooney coincided at Manchester United from 2010 to 2014, a season where the Mexican went to Real Madrid and the defender wore the colors of Queens Park Rangers.
