Vero Boquete spoke to the media once again, the second time since the Spanish Football Federation named, Jorge Vilda as new head coach of the international team. The Spanish team captain and Bayern Munich player reiterated her approval with the new appointment and stood by the Federation’s decision. She also took advantage of the interview with Interviu magazine to criticize chauvinism in women’s football.
''Lesbianism has been used as a way of putting down our sport'', affirmed the Spanish international.
During the interview, Boquete also focused on former international coach, Ignacio Quereda, after the fall-out between coach and players after the recent World Cup in Canada. 'We played no friendly games since March and that is not right. If you don’t play and prepare then you’re not right when the competition comes around. There was a lacking in the training sessions, analysis of our opponents, there was no specific plan during the whole year … At a World Cup, nobody gives you anything. We arrived with plenty of talent but we were not prepared'', she concluded.
