So much so that the former heavyweight champion has tipped him to beat arguably the world best pound-for-pound fighter.
After winning virtually every round of his bout, Saunders called out Gennady Golovkin and Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez.
“I’m very confident,” said Tyson Fury to IFL TV, when asked if Saunders can beat Golovkin.
“What is he going to do, chase him around the ring trying to land one big punch like that guy [Lemieux].
“That style is almost impregnable.
“The only way to beat someone like that is to knock them out with one punch, because you’re not going to win, are you?

“It’s very awkward, being a southpaw too.
“The movement was excellent, and the fitness was very, very hard to beat.”
Saunders utilised his jag to awesome effect throughout his unanimous points win over Montreal’s Lemieux.
He played it relatively safe, refusing to take many risks against the dangerous former IBF champion.
And Fury, who commentated on the match, believes Saunders has the armoury to out-box anyone in his weight division.
“With his awkward southpaw style and his fast hands, I think he gives him trouble, very much so,” he told BoxingScene.com
“And I think Golovkin will go into a sort of performance where he’ll sort of think he needs to knock out [Saunders].
“It’ll be a cat-and-mouse job again, same kind of thing. Same kind of thing.”
