XXXVII edition of the Vuelta a Burgos starts this Tuesday. The race in Burgos, which will last from August 4th to 8th, will feature the participation of great figures in the cycling world, who see this race as a good preparation for the Vuelta a España, which starts on August 22nd. Cyclists like Dani Moreno (Katusha), Mikel Landa and Luis León Sánchez (Astana), and Winner Anacona (Movistar) are the main favorites for the final victory with the absence of Nairo Quintana, winner in the 2013 and 2014 editions.
The race will start with a 149-kilometer stage between Santo Domingo de Silos and the Roman City of Clunia. A route that will pass for a good part of the stage in a circuit with 4 third category climbs, which can encourage those who seek to break away. The second stage will be disputed in the capital of Burgos, and it will consist of a 13-kilometer team time trial that includes a demanding route with the climb to the emblematic Alto del Castillo.
The third stage will run between Castrojeriz and Villadiego, with a distance of 165 kilometers and is expected to end in a sprint finish. The opposite occurs in the fourth stage, with a route of 161 kilometers between Belorado and Pineda de la Sierra, which includes two third category climbs, the climb to Altotero and the final climb to Pineda.
The fifth stage will decide the general classification of the 37th edition of the Vuelta a Burgos. In a route of 170 kilometers between Comarca Pinares and Lagunas de Neila, the cyclists will have to face a third category climb, four second category climbs, a first category climb, and the final ascent to the Lagunas de Neila, of special category. It will be on the slopes of this iconic climb where we will know the winner of this edition.
There are many contenders for the final victory. Movistar will fight with Winner Anacona, with the absence of Nairo Quintana. Dani Moreno will be the leader of Katusha, with the intention of defending a title he already won in 2012. Meanwhile, Astana brings Mikel Landa and Luis León Sánchez to Burgos, two riders who will almost certainly be present in the upcoming Vuelta a España.
