Justin Gaethje suffered his first defeat in the UFC after being knocked out by Eddie Alvarez. But despite the outcome, he claimed to feel more than satisfied.

The American Justin Gaethje in UFC

The American Justin Gaethje arrived at UFC this year after several years dominating the lightweight division (70 kilograms) of the company WSOF. And after making his debut in the octagon with a knockout over Michael Johnson, on December 2 he faced Eddie Alvarez in one of the best fights of the year.

The fight held on the main card of UFC 218 was exciting from start to finish. The actions were quite balanced, but Eddie Alvarez would end up taking the victory by knockout, something that seems to have pleased Justin Gaethje.

"I am happy to have been knocked out instead of having to reach a decision, because I don't like losing that way. I am very happy with my performance. I feel like I won because I really did my best. I really had fun," Gaethje said in a recent interview.

"This is a sport that doesn't forgive. Suddenly I could be knocked out three times, you never know. But I definitely won't change anything. There are not many people who can sit there and absorb the amount of punishment I can deliver. I need to be in better shape," 'The Highlight' added.

Justin Gaethje has been winning over UFC fans due to the impressive aggressiveness he shows inside the cage. Beyond winning or losing, the former WSOF champion is always willing to exchange blows, regardless of the opponent in front of him.
