Jeff Horn retains welterweight title
Australian Jeff Horn retained his welterweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) by defeating his English rival Gary Corcoran in the eleventh and penultimate round after the referee stopped the fight, this Wednesday in Brisbane (Australia).
Horn won in the eleventh round, when Corcoran's corner threw in the towel. The Englishman was bleeding from a deep cut above his left eye.
This is the first fight that Jeff Horn has fought since winning by unanimous decision against Filipino star Manny Pacquiao on July 2, in one of the best fights of the year.
Horn, now undefeated in 19 fights, hopes that Wednesday's victory will help him secure a fight against Terence Crawford next year.
"I have to prove a lot to the Americans," said Horn, whose victory over Pacquiao received all kinds of criticism. "There will always be people who doubt. All I can do is keep winning, that's the key".
