34th Mapfre King's Cup

The 34th Mapfre King's Cup is the major annual event of high competition European sailing that, from today until the 8th, brings together in the bay of Palma 136 boats and over a thousand athletes from 23 nations. Impressive numbers for the most important regatta in the Mediterranean.

The Fleet

The fleet includes boats ranging from 24 to 8 meters in length and has been divided into eight groups, with the powerful Transpac52 and Formula One of the current world cruising sail being highlights.

BMW ORC 1

In the BMW ORC 1, King Felipe VI will be in charge of the Corel 45 Aifos of the Spanish Navy, but the top favorite is Rats on Fire, led by Noluco Doreste, winner of the 2013 and 2014 editions. However, attention should be paid to Maserati, with Olympic gold medalist Fernando León at the helm, and Trafalgar, with two-time Olympic champion Luis Doreste.

BMW ORC 2

In the BMW ORC 2, the top favorite is fifteen-time world champion Pedro Campos. He will be leading Movistar, the brand new champion of the ORC B World Championship.

Singular Kitchen Soto 40

In the Singular Kitchen Soto 40, the Spanish boat Noticia IV, skippered by Luis Martín Cabiedes, stands out. In the Air Europa X-35, much attention should be paid to Fyord, skippered by José Luis Maldonado from Valencia, who finished third in ORC3 at the last World Championship. And in the Herbalife J80, Bribón Movistar skippered by Marc de Antonio, the runner-up in the world, is the main candidate.
