The Real Madrid finishes the installation of the new pitch at Santiago Bernabéu

The Santiago Bernabéu stadium already flaunts the new green field in which it will play its matches for the 2015-16 season. According to the club, they have used 8,500 square meters of grass from Milan, divided into 23 pieces that have been placed in a staggered manner in less than 48 hours.

The type of grass that Real Madrid has installed for this season is hybrid, with an artificial base on which the grass grows naturally. This technique is pioneering in Spanish fields. Its characteristics provide greater resistance to wear, it has a high drainage capacity, and it prevents players from having poor footing.

Paul Burgess, head of football field maintenance at Real Madrid, said it will be like a carpet. "Changing the grass is always complicated. It depends on transportation, if it has been well sown and cultivated at its origin, if the installation has gone well. I have a lot of confidence that we will be able to have a great surface for the next season. The plan is for it to be a carpet for all the matches."
