Matías Rodríguez makes his debut for U
Matías Rodríguez made his debut for U. He did it this Saturday in the match against Rangers for Copa Chile, the same competition in which he said goodbye to the Blues playing as a right back in January 2013.
Now, unlike Jorge Sampaoli, Martín Lasarte changed the player's position to make room for him in the team. In his first match of this new stage with the Blues, Rodriguez changed his position to play on the left wing.
It took two and a half years for the Argentine to wear the Universidad de Chile shirt again. The last time the champion of the Copa Sudamericana played for U was in a match against Unión Temuco (22/01/2013), also for Copa Chile. That time he scored a penalty goal, and the team won 3-0.
After that, he went to Sampdoria and later to Gremio. He didn't have continuity, always wanted to return, and didn't take long to achieve his intentions. Today he competes for a place in Lasarte's team, a task in which he has already made progress.
