Italian Simone Ruffini Wins Men's 25K Open Water Swimming Race in Kazanka
Italian Simone Ruffini has won the men's 25 kilometer open water swimming race, after more than four hours spent in the Kazanka River. The swimmer also created a memorable moment just before the national anthem played on the podium. He displayed a sign that read "Will you marry me?". Along with those words, he made a heart gesture dedicated to his girlfriend Aurora, who was in the stands covering her face in embarrassment.
Aurora Captured on Camera, Smiling
The World Championship's organization focused on Aurora, who was smiling, in a curious image on the cloudy and cold morning in Kazan. The race concluded with the second place finish for American Alex Meyer, who was only five seconds behind the winner, and the bronze medal was won by fellow Italian Matteo Furlan.
