Tigres vs River Plate - Copa Libertadores Final

Nahuel Guzmán:

He was attentive throughout the match. From very early on he was put to the test and always responded. At 35 minutes, he perfectly saved Tigres in a one-on-one against Alario. As always, his footwork was perfect.

Israel Jiménez:

He rarely acquired offensive duties. Defensively, he only had work in the first half and fulfilled his coverages.

Hugo Ayala:

He was always clear in his coverages and solid in the back. The match ended for him at minute 40, after he fell awkwardly and twisted his ankle. He left the field for José 'Palmera' Rivas.

Juninho:

The captain adapted well to the two defensive pairs he had. He fulfilled his duties and was attentive as usual. One of his free kicks was one of the clearest chances of the match to break the goalless draw, but Barovero cleared it for a corner kick.

Jorge Torres Nilo:

His defensive task prevented him from being more of a protagonist in the university team's attacks. He controlled his marker and was never surpassed on the left flank.

Egidio Arévalo Ríos:

The Uruguayan not only disrupted River Plate's football, but also generated chances. One of his crosses almost resulted in an own goal by River at minute 17. He had the opportunity to try from long range several times, but couldn't find the back of the net. He was the best player for the felines. He was substituted at minute 70.

Guido Pizarro:

He correctly fulfilled his defensive duties, being careful not to receive a yellow card in order to be available for the second leg of the final. He always organized the midfield, making sure not to be caught out of position when his teammates went on the attack.

Damián Álvarez:

He wasn't his usual self. Despite being active and creating some plays, he wasn't at the level we saw from him in previous rounds of the Copa Libertadores. He fell short.

Jürgen Damm:

One of the best players on the Mexican team. The 22-year-old showed speed, skill, and a tendency to take on defenders. His crosses were always dangerous for the Argentine defense. His level decreased in the second half. At minute 84, he had a one-on-one to decide the first leg but wasted it.

Rafael Sóbis:

He had the opportunity to open the scoring with a header, but sent it straight into Barovero's hands. He was cautioned for protesting in the first half and almost received a second yellow card in the second half for a bad challenge against Carlos Sánchez.

André-Pierre Gignac:

He fell into River Plate's game and got caught up in personal duels. He was lost in the first half, but whenever he touched the ball, he distributed it with quality.

Substitutes:

José Rivas:

He came on at the end of the first half for the injured Hugo Ayala. At minute 50, he providentially saved Tigres by sliding in front of Bertolo within the box and preventing a clear opportunity. He was solid in defense and also contributed to offensive plays.

Jesús Dueñas:

He came on for Arévalo Ríos at minute 70. He had few chances to showcase himself, but he didn't disappoint. He assisted Jurgüen Damm in the clearest chance of the match.
