Alex Bergantiños: "The team's outlook is better than in previous years"
The midfield player of Deportivo, Alex Bergantiños stated on Wednesday that even though the squad is still incomplete, it has a better outlook than in previous years, something that he hopes to take advantage of from the start of the league championship.
"We have a stronger foundation, especially with the reinforcements that have arrived and the players from last year, who have the experience of what happened, we are more united. We still lack pieces, but the outlook is better. We have people who know the category, which is important to start again, and the new additions are experienced players", commented the footballer.
In statements provided by the Galician club, the player, who is training with the team in the English town of Manchester, indicated that in "previous" seasons, with two relegations and two promotions to La Liga BBVA, "it was difficult to stabilize the squad".
"The signings arrived late and that ended up being paid in the first few games. That has to be noticed this year, as we are working with a more complete squad to avoid paying a toll", he said.
The latest addition that Deportivo has made is the Coruña midfielder Pedro Mosquera, who increases competition in the midfield area of the field.
"There has to be competitiveness in all positions. Last year we were also six in midfield and it is a position that requires a variety of characteristics, because you can play with three players in many matches", he said.
About Mosquera, he pointed out that "he is one more player to add, with a lot of experience despite being young, and with quality".
In addition, he highlighted that he is "from Coruña" and considered it "nice that people of that profile join the team" to "establish the feeling" that the Deportivo entails.
Alex Bergantiños admitted that it has never been "easy" to play for Depor and advocated for "being as well prepared as possible" for whatever the coach decides.
The Coruña footballer described the pre-season designed by the coaching staff as "demanding" and was pleased that this summer the team did not have to travel across the Atlantic like last season.
"The tour of Colombia was a bit rushed, it didn't benefit us at all. This year things were done better", declared the midfielder, who, although he feels the "itch" of competition, admitted that it is still "too early" for official matches to start.
"We need a bit more time to adapt our bodies and the squad to the demands of competition", commented Bergantiños.
