An impressive performance by Hans Podlipnik (167°) earned him a spot in the quarterfinals at the Biella Challenger. The Chilean defeated Agustín Velotti from Argentina 6-0, 6-3 in one hour and 13 minutes.
The number one player in Chile had only won once in his previous three matches against Velotti, but in Italy he defeated him with four breaks of serve. Additionally, the Chilean saved all four break points he faced.
This continues the good streak for the Chilean, after winning the gold medal in the Pan American Games with Nicolás Jarry, and giving Chile a doubles point in the Davis Cup against Mexico.
In order to reach the semifinals, Podlipnik will face another Argentine, Nicolás Kicker (179°), who defeated the Spanish player Jordi Samper-Montana. The Chilean has beaten the Argentine three times in Future tournaments, including earlier this year in Chile.
