Juventus’ ex-director general, Luciano Moggi, revealed that Florentino Pérez was going to get rid of Carlo Ancelotti ''even if he won the Champions League''. He made these comments on Italian Radio Network, 'Radio CRC', and also disclosed that he had a substitute in mind for a considerable period of time.
"Florentino told me that he wanted to get rid of Ancelotti even if he secured a Champions League win for Madrid. Benítez was lined up to be the replacement and Florentino knew this for quite some time, irrespective of what the club would have you believe”, he added.
Moggi also took time to comment on new Real Madrid coach, Rafa Benítez. "Benítez has not convinced me, he has been unable to harness certain player’s potential and the situation with Hamsik is a case in point. For other reasons too, but let’s not forget the Napoli finished the Serie A season in fifth position”, he concluded.
