Real Madrid is one step away from signing Jesus Vallejo

The Real Madrid is one step away from signing Jesus Vallejo, a center back from Zaragoza and captain of the Spanish U-19 national team that recently won the European Championship in Greece. Onda Cero stated that the transfer is closed, although sources close to the player only admitted that the agreement is very close and could be finalized this week.

The negotiations have been led directly by Florentino Pérez and César Alierta, president of Telefónica and one of the patrons of the Zaragoza 2032 Foundation, the majority shareholder of Zaragoza.

Real Madrid would pay the six million euros that are the player's release clause (it started last season at 1.5, increased to 4.5 during the season and rose to six on June 30) and would loan him for one or two seasons. This way, Zaragoza could obtain an increase in its salary cap for the next season from the league.

Jesús Vallejo is one of the most promising center backs in Spanish football and an offer from Udinese has put the big clubs on alert. In recent hours, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Villarreal have fought over the player.

Vallejo is on vacation, after having played in the U-19 European Championship, in which Spain won, but he is waiting by the phone at this time. He will return to work this Monday. In the past season, he was already a stronghold and Popovic considers him key to the structure of a club that is obliged, due to its history, to return to La Liga as soon as possible.
