Uruguay Football Association announced that Edinson Cavani was punished with two matches for the expulsion he suffered against Chile in the Copa America after the incident with Gonzalo Jara.
At minute 62 of the quarter-final match between the Roja and the Celestes, Cavani received his second yellow card after a confrontation with Gonzalo Jara, which made headlines around the world due to the Chilean's provocation.
The forward’s subsequent reaction earned him the two-match suspension, which he will serve in the first two qualifying matches. As a result, he will be back in action for the third match and could face Chile in the fourth match to be played in November.
