Barbara Riveros not only captured the first gold medal of the five that Chile achieved in Toronto 2015. The national triathlete climbed to the top of the podium, aware that the other goal was also accomplished: she had secured a spot in the next Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Like her, many of the 304 Chilean athletes who traveled to Canada had the same mission in the 12 disciplines that offered direct tickets to next year's event. In the end, only four representatives achieved it. All of them women.

Kristel Köbrich was the second. Despite not being able to step onto the podium in open waters, the national athlete showed her validity in the 800 meters freestyle, where she won the silver medal and reduced the minimum mark established for the Olympic Games by more than four seconds.

In athletics, Natalia Duco also secured her place in the shot put, with a mark of 18.01 meters, which allowed her to win a bronze medal and leave the required 17.80 mark far behind.

Isidora Jiménez arrived at Toronto 2015 with the challenge of surpassing herself. Without any chances of winning a medal, the best Chilean sprinter exceeded her expectations and secured her spot in the Olympic Games with a time of 22.95 seconds in the 200 meters.
