Leonel Álvarez, Medellín's coach: "We had to win against Tolima to generate confidence"

The coach of Independiente Medellín, Leonel Álvarez, said in a press conference that the 1-0 victory against Deportes Tolima, in the third match of the Liga Águila II-2015, was decisive to generate confidence in his team and start having "the team we all want".

According to the strategist, there are still things to improve and he will adjust pieces so that Medellín has more football.

Álvarez talked about the debut of Argentine Matías Cahaís, the performance of young players Éver Valencia, Diego Erazo and Sebastián Macías in the Finalización, and the need to see Christian Marrugo and Hernán Hechalar generating more football.

Balance:

"It was a very difficult match. Tolima always complicates all teams when they come to Medellín due to their way of playing. It was a decisive match to generate confidence. We had to win it. And we did well. Also, we had the obligation to keep the clean sheet. They achieved it and that is something to highlight."

Opportunity for young players:

"They (Valencia, Macías and Erazo) are earning minutes. In 15 days, 3 young players have debuted thanks to the work of David Montoya in the youth divisions. I don't play any player just for the sake of it. These are kids that we have studied. And by having them working with us, we realize their abilities. Putting them to play is the only way for them to show what they can do. There are some that will surely make a name for themselves (...) First, we have to look after our own house and have the group support these players who are waiting for their opportunity."

Level of DIM:

"We still have balance. There are still many things missing, but it is easier to correct when you win. As we generate better movements and have more possession of the ball, we will surely have the team we all want. I was pleased because winning brings tranquility. We came from two difficult matches against Once Caldas and Nacional. We continue searching for a team that has more football. It is important to renew the victory in the next match. We want DIM to win today or tomorrow."

Debut of Cahaís:

"We have brought new players and we are synchronizing movements. Matías (Cahaís) shows that he is a player who times well, handles the tempo, is calm, and provides security. He has only had nine training sessions and we took a risk in a very difficult match."

Marrugo and Hechalar:

"I want the playmakers to be more influential, have the ball, and provide assist opportunities, so that the forwards each have three goal-scoring options. We still lack that final pass. I want them to generate more football and not rely so much on defensive midfielders."

Arrival of more reinforcements (a Uruguayan and an Argentine):

"We will never be satisfied. There will always be someone missing. I highlight the effort of the directors and the great investment in players like Torres and Arias. It is not easy to bring in foreigners. But we have made a very good signing with an extraordinary player like Daniel. We made the right decision with him. Arias will come with that quality and personality. We hope to have good news in the coming days. They continue to make efforts for that different player who can score and assist."

Clash with Envigado in the Cup:

"On Wednesday, we will alternate some players. (Jorge) Arias will surely play. (Luis) Tipton will also have the opportunity to give (Frank) Fabra some rest. And Daniel Torres needs a break."
