The coach of Villarreal, Marcelino García Toral, has said that he is "very satisfied with the work and the team's image" in the Emirates Cup, which took place this weekend in London.

The Castellon team won both of their tournament matches against the German Wolfsburg and the French Olympique Lyon.

Marcelino has highlighted that his players have displayed a "very good" level in the tournament and that, overall, his team has shown to be "competitive".

"Against Wolfsburg it was a game with fewer chances, but you also have to consider the caliber of the opponent. Olympique played with very few starters, whereas Wolfsburg lined up their first team. That's why we may have had more goal opportunities today, although it's true that we also made many changes," he pointed out.

In addition, he affirmed that "the most positive thing is that the team has competed well, shown solidity in defense, and at times had good streaks of play."

"Villarreal is a united team that strives for the collective. From there, we are a team that combines well, launches quick attacks, and has depth," he commented.

"We are happy with the displayed image. If we are able to continue in the same line as these two matches, we will have a competitive team," Marcelino concluded.

Villarreal pays tribute to former players Cazorla and Gabriel in London

Villarreal took advantage of their presence in the Emirates Cup held in London to pay tribute to their two former players who currently play for Arsenal, Santi Cazorla and Gabriel Paulista.

The Castellon club took the opportunity to honor Santiago Cazorla by granting him the gold insignia, as well as a memento of his time at the club, a ceramic figure of a yellow submarine with the legend: "this will always be your home" to acknowledge his stay at the club.

Furthermore, during the same event, a commemorative plate was presented to the Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista, as a way to also thank him for his time at the club and commemorate this reunion.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the badge of the club to Santi Cazorla by Villarreal's president, Fernando Roig, as the Asturian midfielder was one of the few charismatic players who had not yet received it after leaving the club.

The Castellon club wanted to take advantage of the Emirates Cup organized by Arsenal to grant this recognition to Cazorla, who played for Villarreal for four seasons, from 2007-2008 to 2010-2011, accumulating 180 matches.
