The assault on Chris Froome continues

The British cyclist Chris Froome (Team Sky), the virtual winner of the 102nd edition of the Tour de France after surviving the attacks of the Colombian Nairo Quintana in the penultimate stage, has suffered a new assault from a fan during the climb to Alpe d'Huez, receiving a spit three kilometers from the finish line.

It is not the first unsporting action towards the leader of Team Sky, who has been accused of doping during the last week and a half due to the great pace he has shown in the last two weeks of the Tour de France.

The first assault occurred in the fourteenth stage when Froome revealed that a fan threw "a cup of urine" at him before reaching Mende. "After 50 or 60 kilometers, a spectator threw a cup of urine at me and shouted 'doped'. I am very disappointed to hear these things," he explained, in statements to L'Equipe.

In the Friday stage, during the nineteenth stage, 'Biohazard' also received another spit a few kilometers from the finish line in La Toussuire, and another fan disrespected him with an obscene gesture.

Froome was not the only member of the Sky team affected by insults and ugly gestures from some fans. One of the team's cars arrived at the finish line with numerous stains of organic remains.
