Tommy Robredo, second seed, defeated German Alexander Zverev 6-3 and 6-4 in the semifinals of the Bastad tennis tournament (Sweden) and will seek his first title of the season against the winner of the match between Frenchman Benoit Paire and Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas.
It took the Catalan player one hour and 22 minutes to beat the young German tennis player, who at 18 years old was enjoying his second appearance in the penultimate round of a professional ATP circuit tournament.
If last year in Hamburg it was also Spanish player David Ferrer who halted Zverev's progression, this Saturday it was Tommy Robredo who took advantage of his opponent's inaccuracies to advance to the final.
Robredo, currently ranked 21st in the world, will seek the thirteenth title of his career against the winner of the match between Benoit Paire and Pablo Cuevas, the third seed.
