Superclásico of the Americas Suspended
The Superclásico of the Americas, which was supposed to be played in San Francisco (United States) between the national teams of Brazil and Argentina on September 5, has been suspended. The friendly match has become a collateral victim of the FIFA Gate. The encounter, one of the most anticipated between two great national teams, was organized by one of the Argentine companies, Full Play, affected by the scandal. Its managers, Mariano and Hugo Jinkins, remain under house arrest in Buenos Aires while their extradition case to the United States is being resolved.
Americas Classic
The Americas Classic, which took place in China last year, is played by Brazil and Argentina, who had their top stars for that match, both from Barcelona: Messi and Neymar.
The San Francisco match will not be played, but the friendly matches that both national teams will play in the United States are still scheduled. Argentina will face Mexico on September 8 in Dallas, while Brazil will do the same day against the United States, but in Boston.
Both Argentina and Brazil are now looking for alternatives for the September 5 date. The AFA reported that the cancellation "does not entail fines because the suspension of the Americas Classic is exempt from compensation for force majeure reasons." In any case, what is certain is that the Americas Classic and the highly anticipated duel between Messi and Neymar will not be seen.
