Yazmín "Rusita" Rivas will return to the ring on September 23rd to compete in another world championship, this time in the Super bantamweight division and for the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
This was confirmed by her brother and trainer Abel "Ruso" Rivas, who explained that despite the change in dates and venue, they are training intensely to have Yazmín ready to become a world champion once again.
Abel mentioned that they had previously agreed to fight on September 2nd in Chihuahua, but the company representing Yazmín decided to change their plans.
We will close the boxing stage in Yazmín's gym, where there are young boys and girls who resemble her weight, and that's what we'll work with
Now it will be on September 23rd, for the WBO Super bantamweight championship. The opponent is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be a qualified foreign fighter of great quality.
For this fight, Yazmín spent a couple of weeks in Jiquipilco, State of Mexico, training at altitude. The rest of the preparation will be carried out in her hometown of Gómez Palacio, at the gym that bears her name, where she has excellent sparrings for the boxing stage of her training.
"Yazmín's final preparation will be purely in La Laguna. We will work hard on the strength stage in the municipality of Mapimí. We will also go to the Dunas de Bilbao to finish strong and have greater leg strength," commented Abel Rivas.
On the other hand, he informed that he is also preparing Maricela "La Baby" Quintero, who will fight on September 8th in Culiacán.
He emphasized that "La Baby" will go for the Fecombox strawweight title, aiming to come out on top. He has been preparing her alongside "Rusita" in Jiquipilco for several days. After the altitude stage, he brought her to Gómez Palacio, where she will finish with 10-round boxing sessions with boxers from Gómez Palacio.
Maricela Quintero has competed for the world championship twice, losing both times due to her lack of preparation. After those setbacks, she has a 5-fight winning streak.
