Mauro Dos Santos, new football player of Eibar, has stated during his presentation that he has signed with the Guipuzcoan club because he is attracted to their project and because "Eibar is a serious club". Although both Mallorca and Valladolid, clubs from the Second Division, were also interested in the Argentine central defender, he preferred to commit to Eibar for the 2015-2016 season. "The first offer I received was from Eibar, and I didn't hesitate for a moment. What convinced me was Eibar's project, a serious club," he insisted in a press conference.

Information has been provided about the Eibar team, where he will coincide with Saúl Berjón and Eddy Silvestre, with whom he played at Murcia in the 2013-2014 season in the Second Division, competing for promotion to the First Division. Saúl Berjón wore the blue and red shirt in the 2014-2015 campaign, in which Eibar debuted in the Liga BBVA, while Eddy Silvestre was loaned two weeks ago by the Murcia club. "They told me I was going to be very well here, and that the support from the fans and the city is very noticeable," highlighted Mauro Dos Santos.

He arrives from Almería (2014-2015), where he made his debut in the top category and couldn't prevent the relegation of the red and whites to the Second Division. He faced Eibar in the match played in Almería, while he couldn't do it in Ipurúa due to the flu. "Eibar adapted to the jump in category because they had previously been promoted two categories in two consecutive seasons. It is a tough and humble team, to which I come to contribute my experience," he pointed out.

On the other hand, Fran Garagarza, Eibar's sports director, explained that "we wanted Mauro Dos Santos last season, but he signed with Almería a year ago. He is an intense, competitive defender who is good in aerial play, as well as defensive and offensive strategy. Additionally, he is a forceful player in clearances in risky areas, and he knows the Spanish league. Two seasons ago, we liked him at Murcia, and he has played a lot at Almería."

Mauro Javier Dos Santos has had two busy days. He committed to the blue and red team on Tuesday and drove from Almería to the city of Eibar that day, in a long journey of 900 kilometers. Today, Wednesday, he underwent medical tests and participated in his first training session under the orders of coach José Luis Mendilibar. Then he appeared before the press at Ipurúa stadium.

For this reason, he will not play tomorrow, Thursday (19:30 hours), in the friendly match against UD Logroñés at Nuevo Las Gaunas. The coach's idea is for the Argentine to train on Thursday to get fit because his teammates have been working hard for two weeks in double sessions. In contrast, Dos Santos has only trained on his own.
